Celerons on Vista – Just say NO!

I just had to write about this as a warning. There is a glut of machines on the market which really should be retired before they have even been deployed. Windows Vista, especially Home Premium, simply does not belong on an Intel Celeron based laptop.

Why? Well it takes about 5 minutes to install Microsoft Office on a Vista desktop, but these cheap and nasty laptops take up to 40 minutes for the same task.

You might say this is not a fair comparison, but it is a real world task which pushes the system. I have a 2 year old laptop which I hammer all the time and it out-performs these laptops when new. It’s like have a Windows 95 machine with 8Mb or RAM.
